Various studies have shown that a great majority of boys and men are not only abusers themselves, but also victims of abuse.
Primarily they are victims of violence exercised by other boys or men. Male adolescents often ex-perience violence within their group of peers without considering themselves victims. But also men who are violent and who are dissatisfied with the fact have a high threshold when it comes to con-fronting their problem and accepting responsibility for their behaviour.
Within the context of domestic abuse, most of the perpetrators are male, even if the estimated number of unreported cases of men being hit by their female partners is extremely high.
