Women's shelter Münster (Frauenhaus Münster )
The women's shelter in Münster offers women* and their children affected by violence protection, accommodation, support, advice and guidance. The women's shelter enables women* and children to lead independent and self-determined lives in an environment free of violence, while accepting individual and cultural values. Women*, children and young people should be given space to process and classify what they have experienced, free from social stereotypes and condemnations. Our work is always based on a partisan approach, the principle of "helping people to help themselves" and empowerment.
Who we advise
Women*
Our target group are women (aged 18 and over) and their children who are victims of domestic violence or have experienced violence. We also advise professionals on request.
We are an independent organization as a separate association. The association is called Frauenhaus und Beratung e.V.
Membership in the network:
Münster Working Group on the Protection against Violence Act, Working Group 'Against Violence against Women and Girls', Working Group for Single Parents, State Working Group of Autonomous Women's Shelters (LAG), Central Information Office (ZIF).
What we advise on
We focus on domestic violence, psychological violence, physical violence, sexualized violence and crisis counselling.
We deal with issues relating to access and custody rights and topics that are necessary when building a new perspective on life.
How we advise
We provide advice in the form of personal counseling, group offers, offer process support, crisis intervention, telephone counseling, anonymous counseling, further education/training of multipliers, short-term help (also acute crisis/emergency), information/information material (general for all interested parties and especially for professionals).
Languages, accessibility and costs
Advice in other languages/support through interpreting is possible in sign language, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Bulgarian, Farsi.
Advice in other languages is possible in many languages thanks to our cooperation with an interpreting institute.
Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair access. However, limited temporary access can be provided by arrangement.
The women's shelter is financed on a per diem basis. An application for cost coverage by the Jobcenter is being made.
