Medical informationen

Here you will find relevant medical information for those affected by domestic violence and information from forensic medicine.

Information for affected persons

You should definitely get a medical examination, even if there are no visible injuries.

Even if you cannot immediately decide to file a report, it is important to immediately secure possible evidence of the crime (e.g. semen, documentation of injuries). These can serve as important evidence for a later report.

There may also be traces on your clothing that should be secured.

There are certain points you can pay attention to:

  • Seek a medical examination so that your injuries can be treated. Point out any possible injuries.
  • Complaints that arise later can also be a result of the violence. Talk to your doctor about this. (see effects of violence)
  • Get a medical certificate about your health condition.
  • You can either see a specialist (see victim clinic) or go to your family doctor if you feel more comfortable there.

In case of rape

You can find further information about medical care and options for securing evidence on the Münster Women's Emergency Call website.
